Q -Will one pair of insoles fit all my shoes including dress shoes and trainers?

A -that generally depends on how accommodating your dress/work shoes are as trainers tend to have more room in them than dress shoes. As I manufacture my own insoles it can often be a lot cheaper to have 2 custom modified insoles made rather than 1 pair of bespoke moulded insoles and generally sports insoles and dress shoe insoles tend to be different.

Q -Could I get away with having just one pair of insoles?

A -Yes, as you only be having problems when you are exercising. When we run we put 3 times are body weight through the feet that’s why often injuries only rear their ugly heads upon exercise. However if you feet are in a poor position it would be beneficial to have the support of a non expensive insole in everyday shoes just to maintain the better foot position.

Q -Will I be able to discuss the pros and cons of my running pattern and footwear?

A -Yes, I am versed in different running patterns and how they impact on speed, endurance and injury. I can also discuss different types of trainers/footwear and whether they are suitable for your gait style and advise on what type would be more beneficial. I also liaise with the various running shops in Liverpool so once the insole has been made I can write a prescription outlining the type of shoe I feel you would need. The staff in the running shops who are more well versed than me as to what exact make and model of shoe would advise you accordingly.

Q -Can you fit an orthotic in every type of shoe?

A - In theory yes, however it is not always practical or beneficial. This is especially true of the very flat shoe (especially girl’s dolly shoes) or high heeled shoes. There is often not enough shoe to accommodate and support the insole or the position of the foot, this is especially true of a high heeled shoes which reduces the function the benefit of the insole.

Q – What if you don’t think you can help me?

A- If I feel that your problem is not one I can fully address myself I will do either one of two things. One, I will either refer you to another therapist such as an osteopath or physio for further input or two, refer you to your GP with a letter requesting a recommendation I may have.
